Hilton Head offers 14 miles of beaches. All of the
beach is public, from the ocean to the high water mark.
However, access to the beach is often private.
The Town
of Hilton Head Island provides five beach accesses.
Official swimming areas have been designated and clearly
marked on the beach and in the water. Lifeguards are
stationed in each of the designated swimming areas and
other heavily populated beach areas (during beach season).
Alder Lane - Off
South Forest Beach Drive
A nice wide and relatively uncrowded beach. Metered
parking, restrooms and a drink vending machine. Wheelchair
accessible.
Coligny Beach - Off
Coligny Circle
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina's busiest beach. Amenities include
restrooms, changing rooms, water fountains, sand showers,
volleyball and playground. Wheelchair accessible. Pay
parking. Coligny Plaza has several shops and eateries.
Dreissen Beach Park
- at the end of Bradley Beach Road
Access to the beach is via a very long boardwalk. Amenities
include restrooms, sand showers, picnic tables and vending
machines. Pay parking. Wheelchair accessible.
Folly Field Beach
- off Folly Field Road
Amenities include restrooms, sand showers and water
fountains. Limited pay parking. Wheelchair accessible.
Islander's Beach Club
- off Folly Field Road
Parking available only with annual permit (only local
residents are eligible for permits). Amenities include
restrooms, sand showers, changing rooms, picnic tables
and a playground. Wheelchair accessible.
